Have YouGov’s opinion polls exposed a divide between the monarchy and ethnic minorities?

BBC Panorama’s YouGov opinion polls may have exposed a major divide between the monarchy and those with ethnic backgrounds ahead of the King’s coronation.

Only 38% of ethnic minorities in the poll believed the monarchy should continue compared to 62% of white voters.

The polls also showed 49% of ethnic minorities believed that the monarchy have a problem with race and diversity compared to 29% of white people.

Lisa Langseth’s “The Woman Who Turned Into a Tree” has arrived at the Omnibus Theatre in Clapham and will continue until 22nd April.

The play, shortlisted for the New Diorama Untapped Award 2023 reworks the Ancient Greek story of lead character Daphne, who is played by Bathsheba Piepe.

The play is Langseth’s UK writing debut and tells a story about isolation, identity and a destructive obsession with the opinions of others.

Ahlam’s You Bury Me arrived at the intimate Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond on Monday and will continue showings until April 22nd.

The play is about the city of Cairo and the lives of six young characters within it, including Rafik (Nezar Alderazi), Tamer (Moe Bar-El), Osman (Tarrick Benham), Alia (Hanna Khogali), Lina (Eleanor Nawal) and Maya (Yasemin Özdemir).

Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas surprised Brixton schoolchildren last week with dance lessons in order to improve their well-being as part of an Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) campaign.

Ballas spent the morning at Corpus Christi Primary School in south west London last Friday in an attempt to inspire children to dance.

Richmond’s planned three-week bin strike has ended after one day following an improved offer from Serco, the council’s waste contractor.

GMB, the union for refuse workers, announced the beginning of the three-week bin strike on Monday.

A dementia group is providing hope and support for people with early onset dementia and their carers in south east London.

Young Onset Dementia Activists (YODA) have operated within Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich since its founding in August 2021.

The group was formed to provide more for those with dementia under 65, by providing group activities that pull the community together.

Founder Saira Addison said: “There aren’t enough services out there for people who are under 65 with dementia.
